Hey ya’ll!
This week I’m sharing my all-time fav books to read that are perfect for your summer vacation! Whether you’re headed to the beach or relaxing by the pool, you’re definitely going to want to toss one (or all) of these books in your tote!
- The Astronaut Wives Club” by Lily Koppel: As America’s Mercury Seven astronauts were launched into space for the very first time, their wives were launched into high society! I LOVE this book for so many reasons; the vintage fashion of the 1950’s-1960’s, the history behind the 7 astronauts and their families as they travel to and from Florida during their missions, as well as the absolute female girl power vibe of the whole story. Lily Koppel takes you back in time and tells you what it was like for these women to go from being small town girls, to the cover of LIFE Magazine & having tea with Jackie Kennedy! (I also have to note that this book was created into a mini-series in the Summer of 2015 & the vintage fashion was to die for! You can grab the DVD set right here! )
- “SummerAt Tiffany” by Marjorie Hart : This is by far the best memoir I have ever read! Marjorie Hart grew up in Iowa, but always dreamed of moving the to big city! One summer, she and her college bestie packed up, moved to New York City… and scored jobs at the one & only Tiffany’s! Travel back to the 1940’s and read all about the high fashion & movie stars she encountered in what could only be described as the best summer ever! SPOILER: She was working at the counter when Judy Garland came to pick out her engagement ring & I died reading all about it! I can’t tell you how much you will laugh & love this story!
- “Talking As Fast As I Can” by LaurenGraham : Who wouldn’t want to read a book by Lorelei Gilmore?! I found myself laughing out loud as Lauren Graham recaps her days of trying to make it as an actress! She IS Lorelei in real life; I swear reading this book was like watching an episode of Gilmore Girls! Not only does she get totally transparent with her readers, but she gently reminds you that she went through all of the same dating nightmares and not so great jobs we all did growing up! This book is such a relaxing read & will genuinely make you wish Lauren was your BFF!
- “This Is Me” by Chrissy Metz : I don’t know a single person that hasn’t fallen in love with her character Kate Pearson on “This Is Us” & let me be the first to tell you that you will feel equally as much love for Chrissy after you read her book. She gets 100% real & relatable about loving your body, respecting yourself & knowing how strong you are. The subtitle for this book is “Loving the Person You Are Today”, and I cannot think of a message more important to talk about. If you’re in need of a dose of empowerment & self love then look no further!
What are you reading this summer?! Let me know!
