Your wedding day should be just that, YOUR day! When we started planning & picking out the details of our big day I wanted it to feel different. I wanted our guests to be wowed and think “this is so Tyler & Kara!” There are lots of subtle, affordable ways to add your own personal touch to even the most common of wedding details. Don’t be afraid to step outside the norm & do something totally different! I am all about standing out, so I wanted to share a few ways we got creative & personalized our day that you may not have seen before!
“Annie, Mood Music Please!” (Bonus points if you can name that movie! Spoiler: Its from the Parent Trap!) So many couples struggle with what music to play for their ceremony & reception moments! Processional, recessional, reception entrance, etc. there are lots of decisions you have to make! Instead of googling “wedding ceremony Music” or “reception entrance songs,” think on it a different way! What do you & your fiancé love? Movies? Artists? For us, we love Friends, I love musicals, Disney is a huge part of my life, and I grew up watching the Father of the Bride movies! So here’s what we did:

Disney’s Fairytale Weddings Album played through while guests arrived to the ceremony
Processional: A Million Dreams by the Piano Guys (from The Greatest Showman)
Brides Procession: Main Title- From “Father of the Bride” by Alan Silvestri
Recessional: End Credits – From “Father of the Bride” by Alan Silvestri
Reception Entrances: Bridal Party: I’ll Be There For You by The Rembrandts
Bride & Groom Entrance: Sure Feels Good to Love Someone by Brett Eldredge (Tyler LOVES him!)
Table Numbers? We can do better than that! Everyone numbers their tables, but that doesn’t mean you have to! You can name your tables after places, things, people, anything that’s special to you! For us, we are honeymooning in Europe next year, so we named our tables after places we’re going to visit on our trip!

Guest Book’s are a thing of the past! Rarely do I ever see a traditional guest book at a wedding any more! This is probably one of the most searched wedding details on Pinterest, there are literally tons of fun options! I personally wanted to have our guests sign something we could display in our home & see every day. We chose to have the vinyl records of our first dance song signed by our guests! We collect records, so this was this perfect addition to our record wall in our living room. Our first dance song was Lover by Taylor Swift; look how perfectly they turned out!

Spice up your groom or groomsmen’s look with more than just socks! Everyone goes for the crazy, fun printed socks for the guys! (Spoiler Alert: No one sees them!) While we did gift them personalized socks, and ties that matched our bridesmaids gowns, Tyler’s look was a little more special! Instead of matching the groomsmen, Tyler & our two ring bearers wore printed floral ties by Rifle Paper Co. It was such a fun touch & they photographed so beautifully! This would be a great way to have the groom, best man, fathers, etc. stand out!

Wedding Cake remix! I knew from the jump I wanted to have a classic, traditional wedding cake. After meeting with our baker, we discussed fun ways to make our cake stand out, while still being decorated with simple, large buttercream rosettes like I wanted. Our cake was 4 tiers, with each one a different flavor! We had chocolate, vanilla, marble, and red velvet cake with different filling in each tier! The bottom layer is the one you traditionally cut, so it had to be special: I had the baker dye our vanilla flavored cake tier PINK to match our wedding color! It was such a fun little surprise for everyone when we cut into it! (Pro Tip: Be sure to make the top tier your favorite kind of cake; that’s the one you’ll take home!)

These are just a few examples of easy, affordable ways to really customize your wedding day! Want to know more about our big day? Lots more details are coming soon!
